MINDSET

TRAIN FIRST FOR LIFE,
THEN THE SPORT.

I believe in approaching training holistically, as a lifestyle, that encourages your overall growth as a human being, in line with your values & priorities. It should fill your cup, instead of draining it. It should elevate you as a whole.

MY MINDSET

I’m a firm believer that you can do anything you put your mind to. In a competitive realm, it often comes down to whether you truly want it more than everyone else. Building that edge requires attention to the tiniest details, so you must fully commit to the mission, and understand that the intensity and dedication required will be all consuming and exhausting. But it’s possible. With that knowledge, the one question I have learned to ask myself is not “can I do it?”, but rather “am I willing?”

I BELIEVE IN BALANCE

From the second you wake up, everything you think and do is a part of your training - mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. You read books, write, create, meet people, care for family, work, rest, gather new experiences, put yourself in challenging environments, do hard things.. all of this is also training. Because the athlete that steps out on the court, into the arena, or toes that line, is inseparable from who you are at the core. There is no line of division.

The athlete and the person are one and the same. Optimize yourself as a human being, and performance comes with it.

OPTIMIZE
YOURSELF

Life isn’t a spectator sport. Get out of your head and into the world. Stop thinking, start doing. Ultimately, it is our actions and the way we interact with the world around us that define us.

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or accomplished, what matters is what you do, and who you are, today. There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself a pat on the back for accomplishing something. But we can’t stay in that state for too long.

Every day is a clean slate to be the kind of person you want to be. The days stack up over time, and you’ll continue to grow and create the life you desire. Don’t be a fan. Be the main character.
